I met Liz and Phil at Chelsea and Connor’s wedding last year at the Woodstock Inn and Resort when shortly after they contacted me asking if I’d be interested in traveling a bit further south to the beaches of Connecticut to be their wedding photographer to which I immediately replied YES! I was so excited to trade Vermont mountains for the weekend and change up the scenery a bit. The thing I love best about wedding photography is photographing couples among New England’s beautiful landscapes and that was no exception in Connecticut. Liz and Phil invited me and my awesome second photographer this season down for rehearsal dinner coverage to document a weekend of fun with their favorite people. Their warm welcome made me feel like they were old friends.
I love that Liz and Phil started their day with a game of tennis followed by a relaxing afternoon hanging and getting ready in separate locations. Their wedding was at Madison Beach Club, a special place where Liz spent many days of her childhood. It is right on the Connecticut coastline with gorgeous beaches. The couple went with classic floral arrangements paired with nautical elements. Their wedding hashtag and super couple name is PHIZ which they had on various elements throughout. They hung nautical flags spelling PHIZ on each house, one for the ladies and one for the gentlemen. They also had it printed on custom matchbooks and wood coasters. Liz’s sister Haley designed the watercolor drawing of the Beach Club on their stationery. The couple printed nautical flags on escort cards and table numbers so guests could find their seats. For something borrowed and blue, Liz borrowed her mother’s anniversary ring and wore blue shoes. Her dress was something new and a borrowed ring from her grandmother served as something old. At sunset, the couple fired three small canons with their siblings, a military tradition conducted with the raising and lowering of the US Flag. In the water, the couple had two boards flying nautical flags in their honor.
It was a pleasure to photograph this wedding and shoot along the beaches of the Atlantic and I know these two are going to have a blast as they start this new adventure together.
Thank you, Liz and Phil, for inviting me to be a part of your day! It was a pleasure to photograph along the beaches of the Atlantic and spend the weekend with you. Best of luck as you start this new adventure together. Something tells me it will be full of love and laughter!!!
