I have to say, it’s hard to take a bad picture of these two. I don’t believe they could be any more adorable. They’re my kind of people. I say that because just like me, they are Kentucky transplants living in the Upper Valley. They’re planning their wedding in Kentucky for next year and wanted to capture engagement photos in the beautiful upper valley area of Vermont and New Hampshire.

I love that they were themselves in front of my camera and allowed me to document their relationship and who they are as a couple. I understand the standard sit and smile photo is one that most everyone wants and while I strive to deliver a few of those images in the final gallery, what truly speaks to my heart most as an artist is when my subjects let go of their inhibitions and allow themselves and their relationship to be documented. I prefer for all my subjects to not look at my camera unless I ask them to. I love capturing them interacting with one another and forgetting that I’m there with a camera. When subjects let down their guard and allow who they are to be seen and documented through my lens, it is such a beautiful thing that makes my heart sing. Creating these images that stir emotions is what I love to capture and feeds my artist soul.
