Snowy Portrait Photography Session

I’ve had the privilege of photographing this family several times now and probably would have rescheduled this session due to the snow showers had it been any other family.  But, they’ve been in front of my camera before and they were game so we gave it a go and I’m so glad we did.  They always have great ideas for their session to make it fun and most often the images I capture end up being some of my favorite client images.  This time was no exception.  I also learned a lot during this session about photographing in snow showers.  The first thing was to work quickly because you don’t want everyone’s hair soaked and they were not wearing jackets so it gets cold pretty quickly.  Again, this session would not have worked had there been younger children but these guys were troopers.  The second was to shoot many, many, many frames as the focus gets thrown off pretty easily as the flakes come down between you and your subject.  Call it a happy accident, but I’ve included one soft focus image that I absolutely love!

I’m so fortunate to have clients like this where so much fun is injected into the session and they are game for just about anything.  They end up with images to treasure for generations to come and I get to add a learning experience to my photography journey, and for that I couldn’t be more grateful.  Thank you Wilson-Kelley family for allowing me to document your beautiful, fun-loving family!
